Terms of Service

This is a translation. If it differs from the Spanish version, the Spanish version prevails.

1. Who we are and what you accept

Prode Age (prodeage.com) is a service run from Argentina by Javier Alejandro Belbruno. For any question, request, complaint or notice, write to us at jbelbruno@helianova.com.ar. That mailbox is hosted by Google, in the United States and other countries: if you write to us without an account, you expressly agree that your message and our replies are stored there (Privacy Policy, section 5).

These Terms govern your use of the site and the app. You accept them when you create your account — with an email and password, or with Google or Discord — together with the Privacy Policy, in the version in force at that time, which is linked next to the button. Browsing without creating an account does not mean you accept them.

We store which version you accepted and when, and we show it to you in your profile. These documents are always available at prodeage.com/terms and prodeage.com/privacy.

2. What Prode Age is

A free prediction game about matches on the Age of Empires II competitive circuit. You predict results, earn points under the rules in section 7, and compete in each tournament’s standings and in leagues with other people. It is entertainment based on your knowledge of the game: it is not a betting service.

3. Who can use it

• You must be at least 13 years old. If you are not yet 18 — or the age of majority set by your country — your parent or guardian must give you permission, and they are responsible for your use of the service.
• One account per person, with truthful information. You may not create accounts on behalf of someone else or impersonate anyone.

4. Your account

Keep your password safe and do not share it: you are responsible for what you do with your account. If you sign in with Google or Discord, your access also depends on that account. If someone uses your account without your permission, use “Sign out everywhere”, change your password and let us know: we will not hold you responsible for what you did not do.

5. Free, with no monetary value

Playing and taking part in leagues is free. We will never ask you for a payment, a purchase, a subscription or a donation in order to take part. Points and positions in the standings have no monetary value: they cannot be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for money, goods or services.

Donations to help keep Prode Age going are voluntary: they are not a purchase or a subscription, and they give no advantage on Prode Age — no points, no plans (section 8), no league verification.

6. No betting

Prode Age does not accept bets, does not offer games of chance, and does not show odds or gambling advertising. You may not use the service — including leagues — to bet, run pools or “kitties”, charge entry fees, or exchange money, goods or anything of value based on the results.

7. Predictions and points

• Closing time. Predictions close 10 minutes before each match’s scheduled start; after that, they cannot be entered or changed. As long as a match has no published date, you cannot make a prediction for it. If Liquipedia does not publish the exact time, the closing time is calculated from a provisional time — the one Liquipedia publishes or, if it does not publish one, 00:00 UTC on that day — which may not match the actual time.
• Possible scores. When we know a match’s format, only scores that are possible in that format are accepted. For example, in a best-of-five match, the winner reaches three.
• Points. A prediction earns points if it gets the outcome right — who wins, or a draw when the format allows one — and earns more if it also gets the exact score right. Currently: 5 points for the exact score and 2 points for getting only the outcome right.
• Results. We take results from Liquipedia. If we detect that a result was corrected after it was scored, we may recalculate the points for that match, and your position may change. A match that is canceled or has no valid result earns no points.
• Rule changes. If we change how predictions close or how points are awarded, we announce it in the app before it takes effect. The change applies only to tournaments that start after the announcement: a tournament in progress finishes under the rules it started with, unless an obvious error needs to be corrected, and in that case we explain to you what changed.

8. Leagues

• Any user can create private leagues, which people join with an invite code, either directly or with the approval of the league’s creator. The creator manages their league: they accept or reject requests, remove members, generate a new code and can delete the league. If the creator deletes their account, their leagues are deleted for all of their members.
• A league may require you to have a linked Google or Discord account in order to join.
• Prode Age may assign some creators — for example, streamers — a plan, free of charge, that lets them have public leagues. Plans are not sold and cannot be obtained through donations. Those leagues appear in the directory after Prode Age verifies them. Verifying a league means that it can be listed; it does not mean that Prode Age organizes it or guarantees anything its creator offers.

9. Prizes offered by league creators

Prode Age does not offer, organize, fund, hold or deliver prizes. A prize is not a redemption of points: it is decided on and delivered by its organizer. If a league’s creator offers a prize:

• they are the sole organizer and the only one responsible for the prize: for its rules, its delivery, any applicable taxes, and complying with the law of the place where they offer it, including the rules on contests and the minimum age to receive it;
• they must identify themselves as the organizer and publish the rules — the contest’s terms and conditions — before the competition starts. The terms and conditions must state, at a minimum, who is organizing it, what the prize is, who can take part, the time period, how the winner is decided and how ties are broken;
• taking part must be free: they cannot require any payment, purchase, subscription, donation or anything else in return, whether on Prode Age or on any other platform;
• if you have a problem with a prize, you resolve it with whoever offered it, not with Prode Age.

Prode Age does not give the organizer your email or any other contact details: to claim a prize, you will have to contact them yourself, as set out in their terms and conditions. We do not verify leagues with a prize that do not comply with this section, and we may remove the verification from, or delete, a league that stops complying with it.

10. What you post

You are responsible for what you post: your display name, your photo, the names and images of your leagues, and what you write to us in a report. You guarantee that you have the right to use it. You give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store it, adapt it — for example, by cropping an image — and show it within the service, for as long as you keep it posted and for the retention periods set out in the Privacy Policy.

The following is not allowed: content that is illegal, offensive, discriminatory, sexual or violent; content that harasses or impersonates another person; content that uses other people’s trademarks or logos without authorization or infringes other rights; and content that exposes other people’s personal data.

11. Conduct

You may not:

• harass, threaten or discriminate against other people;
• cheat, for example by using automated programs or multiple accounts to manipulate leagues or standings;
• interfere with the service, overload it or get around its limits;
• extract data by automated means;
• look for or exploit security flaws — if you find one, let us know and do not use it;
• use the service for any illegal purpose.

12. Reports and moderation

You can report a user or a league by writing to us at jbelbruno@helianova.com.ar, a mailbox hosted by Google (see section 1). Depending on how serious the issue is, administrators may replace a display name with a generic one and remove the profile photo, remove a league’s verification, delete a league or delete an account. Whenever possible, we will explain the reason to you. If you think we made a mistake, write to us.

13. Intellectual property and trademarks

• The software, design, name and logo of Prode Age belong to its operator.
• Age of Empires II is a trademark of Microsoft. Prode Age is a fan project, created under Microsoft’s Game Content Usage Rules, and is not endorsed by or affiliated with Microsoft. The notice those rules require is:

• Tournament and match data comes from Liquipedia and is used under the CC BY-SA 3.0 license, which continues to apply to it.
• The names and logos of teams, tournaments and organizers belong to their owners and are used only to identify them.
• Prode Age is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft, Liquipedia, Google, Discord or the tournament organizers.

14. Availability

The service is free. We do our best to keep it working well, but it may have interruptions, errors or delays, including in the data that comes from third parties. We may improve, change or remove features; if a change affects you significantly, we will let you know in advance. If we shut down the service, we will notify you by email and on the site at least 30 days in advance, and we will delete the data as set out in the Privacy Policy.

15. Liability

We are liable for the damage we cause you, as provided by law. We are not responsible for things beyond our control: errors or delays in Liquipedia’s data (when they are corrected there, we may recalculate the points, as set out in section 7), failures of Google, Discord or our providers that we cannot prevent, what other users post, or the prizes that league creators offer, unless we contributed to the damage. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights that consumer protection laws give you.

16. Closing your account and termination

• You can delete your account whenever you want, from your profile with “Delete my account”, or with “Close my account” at the bottom of the app. Closing your account is immediate and permanent, and we confirm it to you by email with a reference number. You can revoke your acceptance of these Terms within 10 days of creating your account — and at any time after that — in the same way, at no cost and without any liability.
• We may delete an account that seriously breaches these Terms, or that belongs to someone under 13. Except in urgent cases — for example, a risk to other people or to the service — we will first notify you by email with the reason and give you 7 days to respond.

17. Changes to these Terms

We publish each version with its date. A new version does not apply to your account until you accept it: we show it to you in the app and ask you to accept it in order to keep using the app. If the change is significant, we will also notify you by email at least 15 days in advance, unless a law or a security reason requires us to apply it sooner. If you do not agree, you can ask us for a copy of your data and delete your account, at no cost. Changes do not apply retroactively.

18. Governing law and complaints

These Terms are governed by Argentine law, without affecting the rules of your country that protect you as a consumer and cannot be waived. You can bring a claim before the courts where you live and before consumer protection authorities. If you want, you can write to us first and we will try to resolve it, but you do not have to.

19. Languages

These Terms are published in Spanish, English and Portuguese. If there are differences between the versions, the Spanish version prevails, unless the version in your language is more favorable to you.
